WHY IS DISCIPLESHIP SO IMPORTANT?
We are commanded by Yeshua to make disciples (Matthew 28:18–20).
We are directed to teach/instruct others the truth and doctrine of God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:2).
We are called to have an answer in response (i.e., defense) for the Good News of Messiah (1 Peter 3:15).
We are being conformed to the image of Messiah and all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28–30).
We are identified as Yeshua’s disciples by our love (John 13:35).
We believe in the importance of being trained and value discipleship in our community.
WHY USE GOD’S WORD (SCRIPTURE)?
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness (see 2 Timothy 3:16).
It is beneficial to memorize Scripture in order to hide God’s Word in our heart to avoid sin (see Psalm 119:11).
Consider the Shema:
“These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. You are to teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.” (see Deuteronomy 6:4–9, TLV).
WHY DO I NEED TO BE DISCIPLED?
Comprehension increases commitment! Discipleship will also give you an understanding of your calling and resources that you have in Yeshua.
WHY THE FOCUS ON ISRAEL?
We are called to share the Good News of Messiah to the Jew first and also to the Gentile (Romans 1:16–17).
God’s faithfulness and truth of His Word:
God’s everlasting covenant promise with Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 17:7).
God’s new covenant promise with the house of Israel (Jeremiah 31:31–39).
God’s covenant based on His promise, rather than our merit (Jeremiah 31:30–31).
God says He will restore Israel and bring salvation to all the earth through Israel (Isaiah 49:6).
God’s Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11).
